Welcome to our story! Our names are Mike and Lisa Bauman and we’re the owners of Squids Brewery. We have been married 33 years and are Toronto natives both 1980 graduates. We have 2 daughters Meghan and Makayla and son in law Brad who are all Toronto natives as well and who you may see helping out at the brewery some days. We also have our grandson who is our pride and joy, Brock.

Mike is a retired Toronto Police Officer and Military Veteran. Mike was an officer for Toronto for 25 years and he was reservist and retired from the military after 24 years. He is our head brewmaster and the magic behind those yummy craft beers!! Mike has been home brewing for 30+ years and had always wanted to open up his own brewery here in his hometown, which became a reality July 14th, 2023.

Lisa is retired from the Jefferson County Clerk of Courts as Chief Deputy Clerk. She was also the Auditor for the City of Toronto for 7 years. She’s the business side of this operation here at Squids.

Where did the name “Squids” come from you ask? It was a nickname that was given to Mike back in high school football and stuck with him from then on!

The amount of support we have received has been overwhelming and we are so grateful our customers have been enjoying not only our craft beers, but their time/experience at Squids Brewery. We look forward to continuing to serve you good quality craft beers, much love & cheers!
